Cabinets

Yesterday the Realtor called to tell me that I should really get on top of ordering my cabinets for the Condo. I have been putting it off while I look at different styles and trying to find something that goes with maple hardwood since I am sure that I want that. Anyway, I went online to the showroom for the cabinet shop and picked a couple styles that I like. According to the Internet my style is considered 'contemporary'. Let me know which of the below is your favorite. Keep in mind that the floor will be maple hardwood so the cabinets will need to match.

OH! And he also mentioned that the cost of the Condos has gone up to 155. Yeah, that's 20g in 2 weeks!

I don't know what your particular decorating style is, but I really like the last picture. They're light and airy, which benefits a small space, minimalist enough to go with a modern look, but not so modern that they couldn't be dressed up in a more traditional way. The glass accents are a great detail - not so much that you have to worry about the contents of your cabinets, but enough to be interesting.

I like them all except #2. I also like when they make some of the cabinets go higher giving an irregular look and when some are deeper than others. Also like one or two glass doors. Whatever you pick is sure to look awesome.

I like #s 4 and 5 for me...but I totally see how you would like 2 or 5, very clean looking! A vote # 5.

I was looking at your kitchen pictures again and trying to picture them in your actual kitchen and it occurred to me that they might still be able to do something about lighting. Did you consider what it would look like to have lighting above your top cabinets and task lighting under the top cabinets. Numbers one and five would really look nice with lights. One advantage of the wood finish cabinets over the white ones is the option of being able to sand out a scratch and refinish. The white doors have kind of a plastic/vinyl coating. I think you pretty much have to replace those doors. Maybe someone else on here has actually had those doors and could say for sure.

I like them all but #2 and #5. I think they are more likely to look dated eventually. Don't be afraid to have contrasting colors for your woods. My floors are natural stain and my cupboards are Mahogany and I get lots of compliments on them. I would stay away from the white even though I really like how they look. They will show fingerprints and sticky drips more than all the others.

Here is a pic:

It's a little dark, but you get the idea. What kind of counter tops are you getting? Stay away from tile granite or tile of any sort. I love the way mine look, but they are a pain to keep clean. You can't roll out dough on them either or it gets stuck in the grout.

After seeing samples at the flooring store and at moms, I am excited to see how it comes together. I love the dark floors, white cupboards and dark counters, the more I think about it the more I love it! So fresh, kinda IKEA, contemporary yet warm. I still love the light wood though, ahhh, a little more timeless, but it just doesn't seem to give the effect you are after. Am hoping that going to see the show suite with your samples helps you decide. Well, whatever you choose I hope you end up loving it! And, if you get the white you can add just one color as accessories, green or blue or whatever and it would really pop!
